To mark the release of The Architecture of Reuse, the BMA is presenting four exemplary projects from the Brussels region, with contributions from architects Steven Schenk (Schenk Hattori Architecture Atelier), Jean Garcin (Karbon’), Olivia Noel (RotorDC), and Olivier Cavens (51N4E).

Karbon’ will showcase the Général Jacques project and explore how it was developed with a focus on the careful preservation of the existing structure and the reuse process.

What does circular architecture look like in Brussels today?

 

Over the last two decades, reuse has become a central element of the city’s architectural agenda, adopted by both public and private stakeholders, and stimulated by the BMA. While circularity now occupies a prominent place, it nevertheless takes many forms: from the reuse of materials to the conservation of structures, not forgetting questions of the future adaptability of projects.
